School Daze: Theory and Blowouts

The past few weeks we've reviewed our study guides and have taken exams. We've gone over Professional Development, Salon Ecology and Trichology. Professional Development enables you to improve your health, professional status and positive relationship with clients and coworkers. A Stylist needs a Healthy mind and body, an ability to communicate effectively and have human relation skills. Salon Ecology is vital in understanding how to protect your clients and provide a healthy and safe work enviroment. Finally Trichology is the study of hair, Knowledge of hair is one of the most important skills a stylist needs to have. Stylist will be able to provide the best possible service if you maintain an understanding of many different
hair types and conditions.

In addition to the theory portion, most of our time is spent on the salon floor, which is my favorite part of school. We work on each other, our mannequins, and our clients who come in.I love working on the floor its where I get to be creative. I like when friends come into the salon, since my schedule is so busy its a great way for me to see them and catch up.
At Carsten Aveda its very important to provide the client with quality service. We begin each visit with a consultation, while giving the client a scalp and shoulder massage using Aveda Calming oils. After the consultation, we drape the client and bring them to the sinks, where we shampoo and condition using the Aveda products that best suit the clients hair needs. Once the wash portion is complete and client is seated at the station and a blow dry and style is performed. We are currently working on wet sets (pin curls & rollers) and thermal sets.
