Royal Wedding: Princess Bride

Princess Catherine's dress was inspired  from Grace Kelly and Queen Elizabeth II.

The #1 rule from Brides to be- Your look should not be a glamorized over styled version of yourself
and Kate definitely followed suite. She did her own makeup and told her stylist
"William must recognize me by the time I reach the alter."
Her over all look was traditional, classic Beauty which I find to be fitting of a Princess Bride.

...And they lived Happily Ever After (I hope)
THE END

Royal Wedding: Doff your Hat

"Doff your Hat"- British Phrase to Raise your hat in acknowledgement.

British Ladies love they're hats. And I kind of wish that little hats were more in fashion here in the States. I admire their love of classic accessories but for me the more modern & whimsical the hat the better!

Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham's hair was gorgeous and understated, Sleek Ponytail with a little hat on the front perimeter of her noggin. I also love the choice of color and she has a great eye for accessories..i.e. her hat, shoes and husband!

A hair color trend has  recently emerged,  celebrities have gone Red and If you decide to jump on the copper train you should definitely purchase Madder Root Shampoo from Aveda. It adds warmth to chestnut, auburn and red tones in all types of hair. Key ingredients are madder root, a natural scalp-purifying ingredient, and organically grown red clover. Use Madder Root Shampoo in your regular washing routine and don't forget to follow with Madder Root Conditioner.

All aboard the Copper Express!

Drew Barrymore via Stylist.com
Drew debuts long waves with a  Fiery Copper Tone which warms up creamy complexion. And She proves yet again that she is a fashion and beauty chameleon. She happens to be one of my favorite actresses and I had the chance to meet her at a Strokes concert years ago she was so sweet and friendly. Stay tuned for a Hair Idol post on Drew.

Mandy Moore via Stylist.com

The Singer/Actress is now a member of the Ginger club too. She showed up at an event in NYC with straight fire colored hair. I'm not really a fan of Mandy especially her acting (yikes! reference- "because I said so" ) but the Red is very flattering on her.

Blake Lively via Stylist.com

Spotted Serena Van Der Woodsen..., Oh ..Errr... Blake Lively with a New Strawberry Hue. I must say in the Hair Department it appears Blake can do no wrong. The Bright Copper color works well with her skin tone and brings out her teal green eyes. While her signature look, Long wavy locks with plenty of polish & shine,is still ever present in the over all Gorgeous Package.
xoxo.

School Daze: So Long Intro, Hello Alpha

Via Fashion Archive

Last week ended our stint in Intro and now we've moved on to the Chemical phase. In Alpha we will be covering Chemistry Theory & our practical portion will involve:  Coloring/ Highlights- Perms (not your Granny's perm think Gisele-like Body waves)-Relaxers.
We cover the science behind the chemicals and products that make styling and coloring hair possible.I'm interested in how I will adapt to coloring since coming into this I felt that it would be my weak link. Who knows? I may end up loving color the most. We will just have to wait and see...

Also wanted to send a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to my beautiful friends who came to  Carsten Aveda to be my models during Intro.

Night of the Living Red: Prince Harry

On September 15 1984 Prince Charles and Princess Diana welcomed their second son Prince Henry Charles Albert David, better known as Harry.
He is currently third in line to the thrown and is recognized for his flaming red hair and wild behavior. He has had many nicknames through the years such as "the Spare" & "Dirty Harry"...And is known more for his rule breaking and party lifestyle. Harry is a sportsman like his father and enjoys hunting, fishing, rugby and polo. His Royal Redness has also shown a side more comparable to that of his Mother Diana; Charitable, Understanding and Compassionate.

After Diana's Tragic Death in 1997, Harry and his brother William have both set out to continue her works in charities and preserve her legacy. Harry made a documentary on AIDS orphans in Africa & became a Second Lieutenant in Britain's Army, serving  in the Afghanistan war.
"I want to carry on the things that she (Princess Diana) didn't quite finish.I have always wanted to, but was too young,"- Prince Harry

Hair Fit for a Queen

With the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton just a few days a way I wanted to feature Prince Williams' Grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and her Hair. Queen Elizabeth's hair is famous because Her Majesty has never changed the style her entire adult life. This is so she can be well recognized on stamps, coins and in photos by her subjects. I guess her hair montra is " If it ain't broke Don't fix it!"

Beauty and the Beast: Threading

Waxing circa 2003
My good friend Kristy sent me this photo the other day, it was taken back in college  when We would "play beauty parlor" in between classes. (Trust me whatever you do Don't let Kristy Highlight your hair!) I've recently converted to Eyebrow Threading and this photo not only made me laugh out loud but inspired me to write about threading. I've done threading in the past and often times felt very antsy and I tend to fidget during the process.  But I've found an amazing Threader named Bhumi, I feel very comfortable and I don't fidget when shes threading. Bhumi is very fast and talented...she suggested that I need to grow in my eyebrows so that she can correctly shape them. Anyone who  has known me long enough knows I have crazy dark thick eyebrows and they've been every shape under the sun. Growing up I was teased and called Uni-Brow, Brooke Shields, Bert (from Bert and Ernie) and even asked if a caterpillar died on my forehead.  Ive had plenty of mishaps with tweezers and waxes,  I've been burned by wax and was has been dripped on my eyelashes and in my hair & I've had technicians get a little over zealous and take off way too much brow... etc..etc.. I'm very happy to say that facial waxing is a thing of the past for me and I highly recommend Threading, especially if you have unruly full brows. Threading will give you great shape with precise lines and will require less maintenance then waxing. Average threading cost between $8-$17 depending on where you live and it takes only minutes to have perfectly shaped eyebrows.
