3Things my hair needs ...

1.) Pssssst Spray Shampoo- This does wonders for Bangs in between shampoos, Since starting school I've learned that washing my hair on a daily basis is a huge No-No! So Ive slowly limited my hair washing to every other day and now that I have red hair I apparently need to slash that in half and wash my hair once a week. I need to stock up on so Pssssst!
2.) Pony Tail Holders- My usually ends up in a high ballerina bun most days. Its at transition length and I can't deal. I like these ponys cause they Dont damage your hair and I always wear a bunch on my wrist like a bracelet
3.) Color Refresh- My friends Ashley & Sandra are the colorists behind my hair color, They both recommended using Jazzing to "jazz" up my color. It helps make my Reds last longer and stay brighter. Once a week I apply it directly to my noggin for 15 minutes, I also mix it with my conditioner and use it as a color rinse.

The Best Defense is a Great Offense: Lice

It's Back to School time & as many parents know, head lice are a common problem for school aged children 4-12. As a babysitter I'm around kids all the time (luckily its been years since I've heard of an outbreak scare in the schools in Hoboken, knock on wood) and the shear idea of head lice has caused me to have extreme paranoia when it comes to prevention. I literally have my boyfriend check my hair after I'm around any children, I use the Fairy Tales Hair Prevention line and I also use Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Conditioner. I've even purchased the medicated shampoo treatment and used it just for good measure. I make it a point to keep my hair pulled up when I'm around kids or working on clients on the salon floor. As a professional hairstylist you always want to check your clients for any signs of lice before beginning a service. If you do find any symptoms recommend the clients parent/guardian that they see a physician and stop your service. And I understand my paranoia may seem a little wacky but the concept of combing out bug eggs from my hair makes my craziness worth it.

Practice good prevention to save yourself from the misery that is lice extraction.
Use hair products like Lice Shield, Fairytales and Mint shampoo
Do not share hair accessories, hats or combs & brushes
Keep hair pulled back in braids or a bun
Check your families scalp once a month,
mention to your nanny or sitter that they should check their hair from time to time too.
Wash Pillowcases weekly and use hot water

Back to School Hair Styles

It's Back to School time for many kids so I've collected some photo inspirations of my favorite hairstyles that anyone can wear from kindergarten to college.
Up First is a front braid, I love this style whether pulled back like Drew's or worn down like Lauren's. It's great especially for grown out bangs. It keeps the hair off your face which can be a distraction during class.

The Second Style is a Ballerina Bun. I'm obsessed with Ballerina buns. I've been growing my hair out since last November and last spring my hair finally reached the length that I could pull it up and bun it on the top of my head, granted I had help from a few bobby pins holding the strays in place. I love how versatile the Ballerina Bun is, It can go from Day to Night, from Class to Soccer Practice etc...Your hair stays off your face and it instantly makes you look wide awake even after long nights studying. I highly recommend using  Goody Spin Pins to hold your bun up, There available at drugstores and online.

And Lastly, I cant get over how Adorable all 3 of girls are. Chloe Moretz from KickAss, is my favorite kid - teen actress and her bob is so chic. Emma Watson's pixie is so feminine and edgy at the same time, I die. I'd never be brave enough to cut my hair like this but I applaud anyone who is. And Finally Elle Fanning, Long Layers Side Braid with a ribbon Headband, I love that Elle has been in Hollywood her whole life yet she manages to always look age appropriate ,(so many kids these days look way too old and grow up way too fast) kudos to her parents for letting her enjoy her childhood and look the part. Enough Said!
